Fildausi Namulema, Shadia Nabirye, and Malcom Okello have each earned the prestigious Fortebet Real Stars awards for their remarkable contributions to their sports.
Fildausi Namulema: Netball’s Best
Fildausi Namulema, a center player for the National Insurance Corporation (NIC) netball club, has been awarded May’s top netball player. Namulema’s exceptional play led her to win the Fortebet Real Stars award, surpassing competitors Rachael Nanyonga and Christine Namulumba of Prisons. Her leadership and skill were pivotal in NIC’s victory at the 2024 East African Netball Championship in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, where she was also named the Most Valuable Player (MVP). NIC dominated the tournament, winning all eight matches to claim their 22nd East African title.
Shadia Nabirye: Football’s Finest
Shadia Nabirye from Kawempe Muslim Secondary School has been recognized as May’s best football player. Nabirye played a crucial role in her team’s success, helping them secure a bronze medal at the CAF African Schools Championship in Zanzibar. Her impressive performance, including scoring three goals to become the tournament’s top scorer, earned her the accolade over other strong candidates like Vipers’ captain Milton Karisa and Emmanuel Ajo of Busoga United.
Malcom Okello: Rugby’s Star
Malcom Okello of Platinum Credit Heathens has been named May’s best rugby player. Okello’s outstanding performances on the field earned him this top recognition, surpassing competitors Emily Lekuru and Ivan Magomu. His exceptional skills and dedication to the sport have made him a standout player in the rugby community.
