Prince Samuel Lukanga who has spent over 30 years injecting money into Uganda and Africa sports industry had a reason to smile after being honoured with a lifetime achievement accolade award.
While receiving the accolade at the event held iat Lazio Restaurant Kololo Lukanga applauded the choice made by the organiser
“To see me as a deserved winner of this award is important, in fact it is a great vision to recognise my effort towards sports which started many years back”
Lukanga sporting life began about 60 years ago as a child playing boxing, football, Taekwondo where he reached a black belt but also played other sports at amatuer level.
In management the Balangira Kika (clan) sports Manager has a living history based on Boxing adding on an over ten years period in football.
With so many successful Boxing fighters guided under his successful management, Lukanga sounded a reason why he has spent much of his time in boxing than in any other sport like football.
“Boxers are better persons than players in other sports, Boxers are loyal and trustworthy, they just can’t lie but in my ten years in football it is where I saw players announcing fake deaths and other indisciplines locating on lies, am living with several examples”
Lukanga who was inspired into Boxing by Muhammad Ali back in 1969 decided to continue serving the sport after a playing career.
“I started getting boxing interest in 1969 while living with my aunt in Kyengera after watching a boxing fight on Television between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman”
Speaking about the choice, Real Stars sports agency chief executive officer Isac Mukasa said
“No one can come near Lukanga in funding boxing, making great careers, starting up and funding many clubs, taking care of boxers, and he was again great in football with KCCA FC for 12 years, he deserves even more”
The agency along with its partners furthur awarded three athletes from three sports disciplines. Paul Muchurezi won the football accolade, Muzamir Kakande took the Boxing accolade and Israel Makokha won the Rugby accolade.
Resty Mbatidde Namugema, the Assistant media manager Fortebet Uganda and Henry Zimbe who represented Jude Colour Solutions were all in full attendance.
