The Fortebet Real Stars Sports Awards for March brought to light the exceptional talents across various sports, all of whom made their mark at the African Games.
Lydia Namabiro stood out in Rugby, where her significant contributions led the Lady Rugby Cranes Sevens to a strong fourth-place finish in the HSBC Challengers Series in Montevideo. Namabiro’s performance, which included four tries, earned her the rugby award over Norbert Okeny and Peace Lekuru.
In Football, Hakim Mutebi claimed the top spot, edging out his Hippos teammate Usama Arafat and Catherine Nagadya of the Queen Cranes (Uganda U20 Women). His noteworthy performance in Ghana, especially a key goal during the match against Congo, secured his recognition as the month’s best footballer, even though the team did not win the final against Ghana.
Weightlifting honors went to Davis Niyoyita, who represented Uganda with distinction at the Games, winning three medals, including two silvers and a bronze, as a student from Kakungulu Memorial School Kibuli.
